Some Veterans turn to drugs or alcohol to deal with problems in their daily lives. They may use illegal, prescription, or over-the-counter drugs for recreation, for relaxation, or for help coping with daily life. You may have started using drugs or alcohol for fun and can’t seem to stop. Maybe you feel drugs or alcohol help reduce the stress in your life or help you forget a problem or painful memories from your time in the military. Maybe you started using opioid painkillers for pain, but then you found yourself taking more than your doctor prescribed and looking for more and more of the medication.

Transitioning from military service, retirement, the death of a spouse or good friend, leaving your home, losing your job, and being diagnosed with a disease all can trigger emotions that might lead to problems with drug or alcohol use. However, in the long term, taking drugs, abusing alcohol or misusing medications causes more problems than it solves.
Mission Statement:
Our mission is to provide military personnel (all active duty, reserve, inactive and retirees) with Christian friendship and support accessing faith-based resources and all federal government resources entitled to veterans. We encourage involvement within the community through bonding activities while developing a healthy network of peers for personal healing and growth.
Our Promise:
Above all, Lighthouse Beginnings loves its veterans without judgment or discrimination. Through a brotherhood of watchful caring, mutual respect and the love of God which does not fail, we will ultimately succeed and grow strong together. “I can do all things through Christ……” Philippians 4:13
